Session to Song

The flagship of the Kit. Session to Song reads your Session clips and recreates them in the Arrangement at the bars you lay out: real clips on real tracks, named, colored, with named cue points marking each section.

You map which Session scenes become which song sections and give each a length in bars. The extension plans the section boundaries, then writes the clips into the Arrangement. MIDI notes are copied; audio clips are referenced by file. The whole build is one undo.

Right-click a Scene (or use the general entry), then Build Arrangement from Session…. A dialog opens with a small table: one row per section, each with a name, a scene picker, a bar count, and a color. A free-text field also parses a line like Intro 8, Verse 16, Chorus 16, Bridge 8, Outro 8. Press Build. A reverse Export Structure reads existing cue points back to text.

Session to Song reads your Session clips and recreates them in the Arrangement at the bars you lay out. It copies MIDI notes and references audio clips by file, plus clip name and color. It does not carry over every clip nuance: warp markers, clip envelopes, and follow actions are not part of what the beta lets an extension write, so complex warped or automated clips may need a touch-up after the build. It assumes 4/4 unless a scene’s time signature is read (the SDK has no Set-level time signature; signature lives on the scene). Locators are written as cue points (time plus name), not Live’s colored section locators. It is user-invoked, and the whole build is one undo.
